TeaBook Founder Launches Collection, Encourages Tea Drinkers to Talk Politics Over a Nice Cup

Tea has always been a part of American political history, according to Noah Bleich, the founder of The TeaBook. Thus, the Los Angeles-based zero-waste company is launching the My BodTEA, My Choice Tea Sampler Cube on the 102nd anniversary of the ratification of the United States’ 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave women the right to vote and choose their representation.

The "My BodTEA, My Choice" Sampler Cube is a 20-limited wrapped tea bag curation featuring the images of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. And for every My BodTEA, My Choice sample cube purchased, The TeaBook will donate $2 to Planned Parenthood.

“As Americans, we’ve heard the famous phrase that you can pursue your ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,’” said Bleich. “To me, this means you have that right to what happens to your body free from governmental intrusion.”

Bleich – a conscientious tea entrepreneur, who said he’s keeping his pulse on current events – created the curated tea collection in response to the U.S. Supreme Court overturning its decision of Roe vs. Wade, which in 1973 established that the Constitution protected a woman’s right to an abortion.

Bleich said he wants to use his tea sampler cubes to educate consumers, while injecting humor into the conversation. For example, his tea company’s Make TEA Not War Collection supports Ukrainians suffering from Russia’s war in Ukraine. All profits from the tea and ancillary items will fund organizations supplying food and first aid kits. The MighTEA Women of Herstory, the company’s best-selling sampler, pays tribute to Bleich’s mother, Linda D. Bleich, by honoring women from different fields, such as: Florence Nightingale, who’s considered the founder of modern nursing; Marie Curie, a chemist who discovered radium and was a contributor to finding cancer treatments; Agatha Christie, a world-famous English mystery writer; and Amy Winehouse, an English award-winning soul singer.

“The reason we created this company was from my mother’s inspiration and persistence,” said Bleich said. “She always said, ‘Stick your neck out for what is right.’”

For Bleich, drinking tea may not be the panacea to cure the world’s problems, but if products like the "My BodTEA, My Choice" sampler provoke conversations and inspiration, he said he believes he has done his job.

“It would be nice if people can talk about political issues over a cup of tea because you get calmer when you drink tea versus drinking alcohol,” said Bleich (pictured below, supporting Pride Month last June). “There are very few brawls in a teahouse, so conversation is important. Along with conversation, we add in humor, as you can see from our collection names, such as EqualiTEA and MighTEA Women of Herstory. Encouraging discussions in a friendly, disarming atmosphere lends to our mission, which is simply: ‘Drink tea, have fun and do good.’”
