Wize Monkey Introduced Sunset Chai

Vancouver, Canada-based Wize Monkey debuted its Sunset Chai blend in October. It marries traditional Masala ingredients with its smooth Coffee Leaf Tea Base. The result is what the company describes as “a perfectly balanced beverage with spice, sweetness, and deep complexity.” The benefit of using coffee leaf tea instead of traditional black tea is that coffee leaf tea can be steeped for hours without becoming bitter or astringent. “Our new Sunset Chai was blended and tested over the span on 6 months to ensure that we pay respect to the true complexity of chai and its traditional ingredients,” said Co-Founder and CEO Max Rivest via press release. “What sets it apart, however, is that the Coffee Leaf Tea base makes it smoother than any other black or green tea chai on the market and has more body than a rooibos chai. I think it’s the best blend we’ve ever made to date.” Sunset Chai is currently available in loose leaf format. However, Wize Monkey plans to debut the blend in teabag format.

Nestle India responded to the country’s love for chai by introducing its EVERYDAY Chai Life collection at the end of 2018, reported Brand Equity. Three flavors including traditional chai spices make up the collection: Desi Masala, Saffron & Cardamom, and Ginger & Lemongrass. Nestle made the blends convenient by producing them in sachet and “sachet in a cup” formats. “We truly believe that a perfect cup of tea can magically reconnect you with what matters in life, transforming everyday tea moments into meaningful reconnections and conversations,” said Arvind Bhandari, General Manager of Dairy at Nestle India at the product launch. “With this latest innovation, Nestlé India continues its journey as a pioneer by redefining the mode of consumption to deliver ‘consumption on the go’ for today’s consumers.” The chai collection is available in stores in India and on e-commerce sites.

Elk Grove Village, Illinois-based 10th Avenue Tea introduced a line of all-natural tea powders last year that are packaged in .95 ounce recyclable aluminum bottles. The collection offers five flavors: Chai Matcha, Green Tea Matcha, Black Tea Matcha, Berry Herbal and Tropical Matcha. Recyclable packaging was a priority for 10th Avenue Tea President and Co-Founder Ann Foley, after learning about how coffee pods end up in landfills, reported Packaging Strategies. The tea powders are also available in half-pound resealable pouches and the line is stocked at select Target stores. 10th Avenue Tea won a NEXTY Award in 2017 for Packaging Innovation and a Purpose Pitch Award in 2018 for being the Most Purposeful Startup in Chicago.
