Kansas City residents Alan and Marlys Arnold recently introduced their first culinary magazine on Newsstand for iPad. Created for the tea lover and foodie, "Adventures with Tea" features articles about tea and other ingredients, along with a variety of tea-infused recipes.
The new magazine was created with the goal to educate people about the benefits and possibilities of incorporating tea into their daily habits and menus. Although tea is growing in popularity in the U.S., few people have ever thought about cooking with it. Each issue will feature an article about tea from a different region of the world, along with easy-to-prepare dishes made using seasonal tea flavors.
The Arnolds create all their own recipes, in addition to doing their own food styling and photos for the magazine. "It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun, too," said Alan Arnold. "We're excited to introduce our passion and ideas to iPad users around the world with this new magazine."
Four years ago, the couple launched their own line of artisan tea flavors and have been leading tea tastings and cooking classes around the Midwest. They published a collection of recipes in 2010, but wanted to take their message to a broader audience. "Our decision to publish a digital magazine was based on the ability to make it interactive with embedded links and eventually videos," Marlys Arnold said. "The articles can really come to life."
