Ideas for How Tea Businesses Can Capitalize on Mother's Day

Mother's Day can be big business for tea retailers, tea shops, and tea sellers of all kinds. We've outlined some ideas for you to implement to help drive sales around this holiday!

On-Premise Tea Events

Teas and experiences around tea are in demand on Mother's Day. Don't believe us? Consider these two recent studies:

  • A report by Statista on the average planned expenditure on Mother's Day gifts over the last ten years found that "special outings" ranked second in the highest expenditures only behind jewelry.
  • A Tastewise study reported that tea is the fourth fastest rising ingredient related to Mother's Day at 43.15% growth.

Consumers are looking to treat mom to a special experience on Mother's Day, and your tea shop can provide it!

Plan a Mother's Day Tea Party. Consider planning a special tea tasting or high tea on Mother's Day. Set the scene with bright florals, special tea blends, and even accompanying treats.

Get Interactive. An experience doesn't always have to involve drinking tea. Offer a tea blending class, a session on cupping, or a tea and food pairing class.

Craft a Special Beverage Menu. Go beyond your usual tea offerings with tea mocktails to toast to mom.

Selling Tea for Mother's Day

If you're strictly a tea retailer, you can still get in on the Mother's Day fun.

Offer Specials. Offer moms a special discount, a free gift, or a coupon to use on their next visit (hello, repeat customer!).

Baskets & Bundles. Curate tea collections just for mom. These can be things like a bundle of floral-focused teas, a relaxing package filled with chamomile teas, or even a basket of teas with beautiful, eye-catching packaging. Aside from teas, consider adding teaware, tea accessories, chocolates, and more.

Sales. Encourage consumers to shop early for mom with deals and discounts in the weeks leading up to Mother's Day. Or, attract those last-minute shoppers with sales on the Friday and Saturday before Mother's Day.

Shipping. If you're an online retailer, be sure to remind customers about shipping deadlines for products and gifts to make it in time for Mother's Day on May 12.
