Survey Reveals Consumer Demand for Iced Tea

A new national survey of 1,000 adults from Milo's Tea Company shows Americans aren't just stocking up—they're dedicating entire refrigerators to their drink selections. And at the top of that list of drinks? Iced tea.

This news is well-timed for June's National Iced Tea Month and the summer season as half of those surveyed said iced tea reminds them of summer and time spent outdoors. In fact, 53% of respondents said iced tea is the ideal beverage for sipping on the porch, deck, or outside.

The survey also found that 63% plan to drink more iced tea this summer, with that number climbing to 76% among younger adults (18-34).

And those younger adults are especially into their drinks, with 69% saying they have a refrigerator dedicated solely to beverages. 54% of this age group even has a fridge outside on the porch, patio, or deck to ensure their drinks are always within reach for relaxing moments outdoors. 

And with the following stats in mind, it's clear that this summer is shaping up to be a big one for iced tea:

  • 86% of adults enjoying iced tea while relaxing
  • 46% see iced tea as a staple at social or family events
  • 43% say iced tea is a part of family traditions
