Yogi Building Major New Factory in Eugene

By Sam Molineaux Organic herbal tea manufacturer Yogi broke ground in late June on its proposed 180,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Eugene, Ore. just a few miles to the west of its Springfield, Ore. base. The $15–19 million factory will be the largest new industrial building in Eugene in almost a decade, far eclipsing the company’s present 38,000-square-foot headquarters and factory.

According to a report in The Register-Guard, the expansion is expected to bring 30 to 40 new jobs to the area. Yogi’s parent company, East West Tea Company, currently employs about 150 people worldwide, 114 of them based in the Springfield-Eugene area. Its 60+ tea blends are sold in natural, grocery and mass market stores throughout the United States and Canada, and in Europe and Japan. The 13-acre site includes space for an additional 70,000 sq. ft. expansion. The new factory is expected to open early summer, 2017, said CEO Conrad Myers.
