The Tea Emporium
| Prescriptions for Business — and Life On its website, The Tea Emporium’s co-owners Frank and Shabnam Weber list the following nuggets of advice under the heading “Mantra.” This is the closest the business partners come to expressing a mission statement. While, at first, this list would appear to have little to do with business, in fact it has everything to do with business. If every business reflected these values, the world would be a better place. Mantra ♦ There is NO reality — only our perceptions of reality. ♦ Laugh. ♦ Hold onto your old love letters — throw out your old bank statements. ♦ Remember compliments you receive — forget the insults. ♦ There is nothing noble about being superior to another man. The true nobility comes from being superior to your previous self. ♦ Don’t use time or words carelessly — neither can be retrieved. ♦ Accept that some days you’re the pigeon – some days you’re the statue. ♦ Memorize your favorite poem. ♦ Don’t believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. ♦ When you say, “I love you,” mean it. When you say, “I’m sorry,” look the person in the eye. ♦ Believe in love at first sight. ♦ Never laugh at anyone’s dreams. Listen, and then listen some more. ♦ Go easy on yourself — some days you’ll be the only one who will. ♦ Be present. Be grateful. Be awed. |
