By Sam Molineaux Largest-teapot-Morocco-lo resJoining an illustrious group of tea-related world records, which include the world’s largest tea cozy, the world’s largest collection of teapots, the world’s largest cup of tea and the world’s largest tea bag, the Guinness World Record for the largest ever teapot was recently smashed at the International Agricultural Show in Meknes, Morocco. Moroccan family business Sultan Tea unveiled the 4 meter (13 ft 1 in) high, 2.58 meter (8 ft 5 in) diameter teapot to coincide with its 80th anniversary celebrations. The teapot’s traditional iron design is in contrast to the previous world-record holder Sanbao Xu’s design for China’s Lu’an Gua Pian Tea Company, whose ceramic teapot measured 1.8 m (5 ft 10 in) in height and 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) in diameter. Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Lorenzo Veltri was on hand in Morocco for the super-sized teapot’s inaugural brew: 1,500 liters of refreshing, breath-freshening mint tea. Summerville ice tea 2016-lo resJust six weeks later, on June 10, 2016, the town of Summerville, South Carolina, reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest iced tea (previously held by Lipton, after the tea giant displaced small-town Summerville’s 2015 world record). Measuring 9,554 liters, the sweet tea was brewed using 210 pounds of loose leaf tea from local Charleston Tea Plantation, 1,700 pounds of Dixie Crystals sugar and several hundred pounds of ice.
