On Tuesday the Sri Lanka Tea Exporters Association donated $60,000 worth of Ceylon tea to Japan's earthquake victims. The gift of three million tea packets was offered to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees. The consignment will be administrered by Sri Lanka's Ambassador designate to Japan, Adm. Wasantha Karannagoda.
Association Chair Jayantha Keragala made the presentation. Also taking part were Plantation Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Tea Board Chairman Susantha Ratnayake and Association Vice Chairman Rohan Fernando.
Sri Lanka extends the full support of its government to the people of Japan in this time of need.
