LONDON, U.K.
A bright red tea towel commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee has been added to the list of official merchandise reviewed by Her Majesty Elizabeth II.
The 30 x 17-inch cotton towels, which feature a crown and diamonds sell for $14.50 with all proceeds going to maintain the British Royal Collection a trove of priceless antiques held in trust for the nation. The decision to add the towel is the result of demand for the item, one of three tea towels now offered in the collection.
Other mementoes include a $400 teapot that that has already sold out and a $40 gold-painted mug. There are 26 items ranging from a tin of mints to a $725 music box that plays “God Save The Queen.” These items are expected to generate several million.
On June 5 the Queen will take part in a glittering procession through the streets of London to mark her Jubilee. She will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and other senior royals including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
