It is that time of year when people stock their freezers with some of America’s most beloved treats, Girl Scout cookies. Among the most popular are the ones that have been favorites for decades — Caramel Delights (formerly known as Samoas) and Thin Mints. Connecticut’s R.C. Bigelow, Inc. has now released Girl Scout cookie teas inspired by these classics. The limited edition teas were produced through a licensing deal with Girl Scouts of the USA. The release of the two flavors coincides with Bigelow’s 70th anniversary. “Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout,” remarked Cindi Bigelow, the company’s third-generation President & CEO. A Girl Scouting alum herself, Bigelow adds, “These tea flavors, in addition to being a part of the Bigelow quality tradition, will extend the enjoyment of Girl Scout Cookies into a new category, with an inspired beverage that warms body and soul and brings a smile to your face!” The sugar-free, gluten-free and Kosher-certified dessert teas are Girl Scouts Thin Mints Herbal Tea and Girl Scouts Caramel & Coconut Black Tea. The Thin Mint herbal is a blend of peppermint, chicory, rose hips, licorice, cocoa and flavoring. The Caramel tea is a black tea with coconut and caramel flavoring. The teas will be sold in grocery stores in March and April and on Amazon year-round. Bigelow Tea Company is family-owned, producing more than 130 different flavors in its line of teas. Headquartered in Fairfield, Conn., the company also bought and restored the Charleston Tea Plantation in South Carolina. SOURCE: Fairfield Citizen and Girl Scouts
