Wednesday, 05 May 2010

Wanted: health nut who loves tea and needs a job.

That's the message put out this week by Windsor, Conn.-based Salada Tea, a Redco Foods brand of 16 green and white teas.

The company said it will pay its "first-ever consumer spokesperson" $10,000 to help spread its marketing message: "Unbottle Your Tea." Originally launched in September 2008, the campaign is designed to encourage people to brew their tea, rather than drinking it in RTD form, because "freshly brewed tea made with tea bags contains 95 percent more healthy antioxidants, is less expensive and can help reduce the 135 million beverage containers wasted each year," according to a press release.

Those interested can visit the campaign Web site for more information.

In February, Redco was one of 17 companies receiving warning letters from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding products that were in violation of regulations governing nutrition information and health claims. Redco's warninghad to do with health claims made about Salada Naturally Decaffeinated Green Tea and on the Salada Web site.
