A former trainer for a software company has parlayed her love of learning and teaching into a new career as a tea specialist.

May King Tsang of London in January completed the Level 3 Certification of the Specialty Tea Institute, a program of the Tea Association of the USA. Tsang therefore became the first Brit to be designated a certified tea specialist by STI.

Although she has been cultivating her love and knowledge of tea for some time, Tsang became more serious about the business of tea when she was laid off from the softwre company for which she had been a training manager. Late last year, she launched MayKing Tea, an online retail store and tea tasting event company.

"I initially enrolled on the tea certification programme so that I could enrich my own tea-drinking experience and knowledge. As a former training manager, education is another one of my passions; forming MayKing Tea was therefore the obvious career choice for me," Tsang said, in a statement.
