Tea Biscuit Goes Gluten-free Print E-mail
Friday, 16 January 2009
Anyone looking for a gluten-free snack is in luck: Biscottea is expanding its product selection to include three new gluten-free varieties of its tea-flavored, Scottish-style shortbreads.

The products’ hard launch is this week, at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco.

The gluten-free varieties will be Chai Spice, Blueberry with Organic White Tea and Earl Grey with Organic Darjeeling Tea – all from Biscottea’s current line up of flavors. Packaging will be in 5.6-ounce boxes and “grab-and-go” two-cookie packs.

Biscottea co-owner Nicci Milner was inspired to create gluten-free products by her work with autistic children. "[T]hey show great progress when they are on a gluten-free diet,” she explained. “The increasing number of children with celiac disease needing gluten-free diets motivated us to develop sophisticated GF shortbreads that replicate the crunchy mouth-feel and rich flavors of our wheat-based Biscottea.”
