Mate FusionOceanside, N.Y.-based Beverage Brands will add four new flavors to the four existing flavors in its Maté fusion line of RTD yerba maté blends. According to a product announcement, the new flavors will be available early next year.

They are more traditional than the existing line, which includes blueberry-acai, peach, Asian pear and pomegranate. In adding lemon, raspberry, mango and black currant flavors, the company was responding to consumer demand, CEO Paul Adler said.

"We understand that some folks have traditional tastes, so we added lemon and raspberry; we also had a lot of requests for mango," Adler said, adding that black currant was included because of its high levels of antioxidants.

The company touts the beverages as "100-percent all-natural premium tea, made without any preservatives, no [sic] artificial flavors or colors, or high fructose corn syrup. It is brewed naturally with the leaves of the South American yerba maté."
