FDA Recalls Potentially Tainted Milk Tea Print E-mail
Monday, 29 September 2008
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Sept. 26 issued an advisory about the recall of several products due to possible melamine contamination, among them a milk tea blend.

The FDA said that a Taiwanese company, King Car Food Industrial Co., had recalled seven of its products that contained non-dairy creamer made at Shandong Duqing in China and found to be contaminated with melamine. The products are mostly Mr. Brown brand instant coffee blends, but also include one tea product, Mr. Brown Milk Tea.

The FDA recommended that people not consume any of the products.

At the same time, the agency said it had not found melamine contamination on any of the imported-from-China products it had tested.

"The FDA is working with regulatory agencies in other countries," the satement added.

This alert is the latest in a scare that began Sept. 12 when reports surfaced of melamine-contaminated infant formula in China.
